The government's incentives to boost the electric vehicles (EV) sector, including full exemption of import duties, excise duties and sales tax is set to catalyse demand and electrify the EV market.

The Dewan Rakyat today approved four motions tabled by the Finance Ministry on government funding and taxation.

The abolishing of excise duties does not guarantee that the prices of cars will drop, according to the Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri.
